Non human magical races in Crater have some restrictions on them similar to Altered Humans. They can not have snouts any longer or bigger than the average human nose, and nothing that changes their face so extreme that it becomes more animal than human as the DEFAULT form.
They can not be shorter than 3 feet tall, or taller than 7.5 feet.
Aliens of any kind are not playable at this time. There will eventually be a plotline that introduces them, so if you choose to make your character "secretly" an alien, bear in mind that they will have to conform to Crater's specific alien plotline story. If you're unsure of whether you'd be okay with this, then refrain from making your trainer alien at this time. Do not ask about the story arc as we do not give out spoilers!.
If you don't see the race you'd like on the list below, check the one immediately after it labeled "Playable with restrictions."
If the race is not on either list, please ask about it in the discord's help-desk.
If the race you've chosen is magical or specializes in magical abilities,
please see
Non-human, playable races in Crater that can be Pokemon trainers include, but are not limited to, the following:
Aasimar
Genasi
Vampires - sensitive not only to sunlight, but high temperatures in general, and may not last long trying to hike through the Fire biome. Be careful around Fire-Type Pokemon! Many humans in Crater assume vampires have more money than they let on, and Crater City has at least one local gang dedicated to "human purity". Your vampire isn't the only dangerous person in the dark alleys at night...
Werewolves (see: shape shifter guidelines) - sensitive to high-pitched noises like electronic feedback, radio static, screeching car brakes, and have a natural affinity for dog-pokemon (or whatever pokemon they share animal traits with.)
Selkies (see: shape shifter guidelines)
Were-other animals (see: shape shifter guidelines)
Changelings (see: shape shifter guidelines)
Nymphs / Dryad (see: shape shifter guidelines)
Naga
Orcs
Trolls
Goblins - low tolerance for high-pitched noises and dry heat.
Elves (dark elves as well) - low tolerance for city areas. They are easily overwhelmed by too much noise, metal, and technology. They are also sensitive to fumes. Just like Vampires Many humans in Crater assume Elves have more money than they let on and are subject to being robbed by gangs.
Dwarves
Faerie / Pixie (human-sized is your DEFAULT you may "shrink" in size however)
Satyr - be careful in the city on hot days! superheated pavement isn't bad just for pokemon-paws - you'll have to watch your hooves as well! With a high affinity for nature, a satyr trainer can get along very well with even hostile Pokemon, but is likely to be very uncomfortable around Steel and Poison-Type Pokemon.
Mer (Mermaids/Mermen) - of course you love the water, the water loves you, and water pokemon love you also! Be careful when exploring the Fire and Rock Biomes, as water is scarce here, and drying out would be very dangerous.
Half-bred
Avian - pretty music is a natural draw for these creatures, and wet weather can be very inconvenient. Soaked feathers can not only drop you from the sky in stormy weather, but if you aren't careful about drying off, you might catch a cold!
"angel"
Harpy
Feathered wings but long mammalian tails, paws, or other "mixed traits" like that
Gargoyle - myths about you and avians being ancient enemies are just that: myths. However, you do look pretty scary, and you may run into some tough crowds - or, they may go out of their way to run into you...
"demon" or "tiefling"
Actually a gargoyle (they can't turn to actual stone or be impervious to anything sharper than a knife blade, but they can have grey skin and stone-like features (like stoney textures on their skin, horns or spikes or things that look like stone/rock)
People that have membrane wings and no tail, or horns and no wings, or otherwise don't have ALL the features typically associated with a demon, still fall under this category.
Dragonborn, or humanoids with draconic features, would fall under this category
Playable with restrictions:
All races on this list are still playable but must abide by Crater-specific descriptions.
This means your characters, according to their obvious physical traits, may be SLIGHTLY stronger, faster, taller, or otherwise superior to humans, but not so much so that it negates the need for a Pokemon.
Races with natural non-human abilities like flight, breathing underwater, or similar, fall under the same restrictions when it comes to areas that require Pokemon with certain abilities. That means if your Pokemon can not access somewhere despite being able to fly or despite being able to breathe underwater, neither can you, regardless of your race's ability. Again, this falls under the rule that any abilities they have can not negate the point of needing a Pokemon.
Races on this list must have minimum snoots! Snouts. Muzzles. Shnozzes. Whatever the word you like to use, these races are known for prominent animal-like snouts or heads.
In Crater, races are restricted to humanlike faces.
This means no snouts longer than a typical human nose, and while you can tweak the nose a little to make it look slightly feline, goat-like, or otherwise, it must not interfere with the human-like mouth or any other features in the face.
Here is a basic guideline for how much snootery is allowed: IN YOUR DEFAULT "Humanoid" Form

Now, for the races that fall under these restrictions. The races allowed with restrictions include, but are not limited to:
Tabaxi
Loxodon
Aarakocra
Kobold
Insectoid
Gorgon
Any animal-like species
Shapeshifter Guidelines
Werewolves, were-animals, shapeshifters, selkies, and any magical races that can change their shape from one entirely into a new one.
